The History of the Statue of Liberty

          The concept behind this graphic piece was to give the viewer the history of what this monument stands for, for this country as well as the history of what materials it was made from, the techniques and materials used and tell who the artist behind this monumental statue was. I was making the main priority of the piece the statue its self as the main focal point since this is what my content talks about. I wanted to make the statue as eye catching to the viewer as I could. That's the main reason for the pronounced position and size that she is in.
           In the final result of my piece I felt that there were many things that went well and there were some parts that I wish that I could have made better. Parts that I thought that I succeeded on were the placement of my material. The positioning of the statue, the city of the background and the title, I felt all these elements were placed well throughout the poster. The graphic of the statue I felt turned out very well and was one of my favorite parts of the poster. The difficulties that I came across making this poster were finding the right image of the statue that is in a different perspective then the typical view of the statue. I wish I could have found a more interesting perspective on the statue to make it more appealing for the viewer to approach this poster and want to read it.
           In my poster I noticed things I liked and disliked in the final result. What I liked was how the graphic came out on the statue with the different values of color I used because I feel it gives it a sense of three-dimension also with the city in the background it gives the poster a sense depth to it. What I noticed in the end result the I wish I had done differently was maybe take the body text that is close to the statue and wrap it to the outer part of the statue. I also disliked how bright the city in the background is because I don't want the viewers to think this is a poster about New York City I what the main focus on the statue. So Ill lower the brightness of the the city so it's still visible but a little more subtle.
          With this poster, I found being the most difficult was the mounting of the poster on the black foam core. At first I used double sided mounting tape but the tape wasn't holding the poster to the foam core and over night it left rippling and bumps throughout the whole thing. So I took it over to (Beyond the Print) and they put down adhesive to the foam core and then placed the poster down on top of that and then it was flush with the board. So that's how I resolved the problem.
